Our Strategies

FORVAC focuses on forest value chain development based on production of timber, charcoal and non-wood forest products (NWFP) in the project districts and areas allocated there to local communities (CBFM within Village Land Forest Reserves). The Programme also supports the development of forest law enforcement, as it is relevant to the development of CBFM and improvements of conditions for the trade of legally sourced timber, charcoal and other forest products originating from the project area. Legal and policy frameworks are to be improved and harmonized to guide and improve sustainable forest management and trade procedures.

The role of private sector is prominent in developing financially feasible value chains. In addition to local communities, private sector organizations, particularly entrepreneurs engaged in forest and non-forest products harvesting, processing, transport and marketing have a key role in the implementation of FORVAC interventions.
